DNA Structure

DNA is essentially a twisted ladder, composed of two strands (double stranded helix). Strands have a sugar phosphate backbone, attached to base pairs that hold the strands together.

Base pair ruling

These bases are complementary, meaning each base has its pair. In DNA, A always pairs with T, and C always pairs with G. These bases are connected via hydrogen bonds, with A and T forming two, and C and G forming three.
